a caddy, by definition is - '1. a person hired to serve as an attendant
to a golfer.' In general, the overall duty of a caddy is to assist the
golfer in his/her round of golf. If you plan on becoming a member of the

Tips on Being a Great Caddy!

= INTERMEDIATE-LEVEL, for caddies that
have played golf once or
twice and who
have limited knowledge of the games rules
(A) = ADVANCED-LEVEL, for
caddies who have played golf on a regualr basis. As
in you know all the IN's and OUT's of the game rules and feel comfortablein
any and all types of caddy situations. |
1) Dress Appropriately. BE PROFESSIONAL.

- Sunglasses if you wear them

2) A Caddy Kit includes the following:
- Extra Golf Tees
- Sun Screen
- Lip Balm
- A golf towel, not a bath towel or a beach towel
- A divot repair tool
- A golf club brush
- A couple of ball markers
- A couple of power bars/candy bars some for you and some for your golfer.
- A copy of the rules of golf
- A couple of golf pencils
- An extra copy of the scorecard from that course
- Bring a yardage guide with you. You can download one from this link
- Optional - A pair of dry socks in case yours gets wet
- Optional - A pair of dry socks in case his gets wet
- Optional - A sleeve of his favorite golf balls
- Optional - A spare golf glove, you would need to know what size he wears
- Optional - An umbrella for you. If it rains, the golfer probably has one for himself
3) Before the Round of GolF BEGINS...
- Show up at least 30 minutes early. DO NOT BE LATE
- Always be upbeat and have a fun attitude from the moment you meet your golfer/
client.
- From the moment you meet and greet your golfer/ client, you will be responsible
for his/ her golf clubs.
- If riding, load the clubs onto the golf cart,
If using a pull cart, put them
on the pull cart
- A yardage book is an extremely useful tool on behalf of the golfer. If
you can, grab one. We have them avaialble at the Caddychicks™ ProShop
- If your gofler is going to the driving range, make sure to clean his/her grips
and clubs when they're hitting golf balls. Clean grips are often
overlooked by golfers. Some golf courses will have a golf cleaning bucket
on the driving range. Clean the grooves of his golf clubs with your club
brush
- Do you have spare gloves in case of rainy weather
- Ask him if he/she has an ample supply of golf balls
- Count his golf clubs in his bag. A golfer is only allowed to have 14 clubs,
if he/she has more than fourteen, make sure you tell them.
- Fill out your yardage guide by asking him how far he hits each club. This will
help you know about what
club your golfer will be wanting on their next shot
- Turn off your cell phone, pager, etc.
- Introduce yourself to his playing partners
- During the round
- Use proper etiquette
- Keep his clubs, golf balls and grips clean
- Be your golfer's inspiration, even if your golfer hits a bad shot!
- Make sure to replace/fill his divots he takes
- Raking the sand traps always helps
- Keep up the pace of play
- Help with holding the flagstick
- Keep your golfer hydrated with the beverage of their choice
- Make sure to keep his grips and clubs dry during the round
- Keep a track of your golfers score accurately
Mark putts, greens in regulation
and fairways in regulation
- Help your golfer with yardages (I)
- Help your golfer with course information (I,A)
- Help your golfer with shot selections (A)
- Help your golfer read putts (I, A)
- Help him with the rules of golf (A)
4) After the round
- Clean his clubs, grips and golf bag one last time.
- Make sure that his clubs are put away into his locker or into his car.
If you leave the clubs out in front of the clubhouse, they may get stolen.
You are responsible for the players' bag from the moment you first touch it,
to the moment it is put away. Always be aware of this.
- Thank the golfer and ask for his feedback.
Ask if there was anything you could do to improve your caddy services
- The golfer will pay you your rate for the hours of play or by the round
(which
you have already specified on your profile)
- Although tips are not required, accept it graciously with a "thank you"
if your golfer hands you one.
